Welcome to Hove-to
Hove-to is a modern Southland crib (holiday house) in Half Moon Bay on Rakiura (Stewart Island) – New Zealand’s 3rd largest and most southern of the large islands.
Owned and used by two Southland Families, it is available now and then for rent.
Hove-to is on the slopes of Petersons Hill, 5 minutes walk from Oban – the main town on Rakiura. It looks north and enjoys all the available sunshine and abundant birdlife.
It has a panoramic view of the bay, township, Mt Anglem – the highest hill – and across to Foveaux Strait wherein lies the Port of Bluff 20 miles away and from which the ferries run.
Hove-to is modern, well equipped and has sleeping space in 2 bedrooms, a loft and bunkroom. It can accommodate 6 easily and up to 10. The Island is really about nature and walking – but there is a car available.
Hove-to is a sailing term that means to take a break or rest awhile - we just love it and really enjoy our holidays of resting, walking, tramping, birdwatching, diving, fishing and boating. Whatever feels right for you.
